Ideal Phone Settings For Loner Mobile and Blackline Connect Apps

Apps running in the background are dormant on most mobile phones by default. This is done to save battery power. However, Blackline Connect and Loner Mobile cannot monitor your safety as intended while dormant. This article will explain how to adjust your phone’s battery settings to allow Blackline apps to remain active whenever open.

Stock Android Phones

Like Google Pixel, Nokia, Motorola, etc.
  1. Open phone settings
  2. Select “Apps & notifications”
  3. Select the app (Loner Mobile or Blackline Connect)

iPhones

iPhones require two settings to be changed: location access permissions and low power mode.

Location Access Permissions

When you first use Loner Mobile or Blackline Connect, you will be prompted to set the location access permissions. You will be given four options, “Never”, “Ask next time”, “While using the App”, and “Always”. For optimized use of Loner Mobile and Blackline Connect, select “Always”.

If you wish to change the app’s location access permissions from the phone’s settings:

  1. Open phone settings
  2. Select “Privacy”Apple

  4. Ensure “Location Services” is enabled
  5. Select the app (Loner Mobile or Blackline Connect)
  6. Select “Always”
  7. Enable “Precise Location”

Low Power Mode

iPhones have a low power mode that can be enabled to save battery power when it is running low. The low power mode negatively effects Loner Mobile and Blackline Connect’s ability to accurately find your location. An accurate location is required for proper safety monitoring. Blackline Safety recommends disabling the low power mode when using Loner Mobile or Blackline Connect.

To disable low power mode:

  1. Open phone settings
