This article describes how to create a distributor relationship in Blackline Live. This is required when sending a device to a Distribution Service Center (DSC) for repair.
Creating a relationship allows the distributor to temporarily move the device out of your organization until the repair is complete.

wHY CREATE A DISTRIBUTOR RELATIONSHIP?
A distributor relationship is required when you send a device to a Distribution Service Center for repair.
Before the distributor can service the device, they must temporarily move it out of your organization and into the DSC’s organization in Blackline Live.
Creating this relationship ensures:
- The distributor can access the device to complete repairs.
- The device is temporarily removed from your organization and won’t be assigned to a team member while it’s being repaired.
- Your organization maintains control over which distributors can service your devices.

Before creating a distributor relationship, ensure:
- You have Organization Admin permissions in Blackline Live.
- You are working with a certified Distribution Service Center (DSC) that can repair your device(s).
- You have the email address of the distributor’s organization admin (required to send the email invitation).
Creating a distributor relationship in blackline live
If this is your organization’s first time sending a device to a Distribution Service Center (DSC) for repairs, you need to create a relationship in Blackline Live.
This allows you to move the device from your organization to the distributor’s organization while repairs are being performed.
To create a distributor relationship:
1. Log in to Blackline Live at live.blacklinesafety.com.
2. Select your organization’s admin email address in the top-right corner.
3. Select Relationships from the dropdown menu.
4. Select Add Provider to create a new relationship between your organization and the distributor’s.
5. Fill out the Add Provider form:
- Relationship name – Enter Distributor.
- Contact Email – Enter the email address of the distributor’s organization admin.
- Relationship Type – Select Non-contractual.
- Search groups –Select All devices from the list of groups.
- Roles – Select Group admin.
6. Select Send.
After sending the email invitation, wait for the distributor to accept the relationship. Once accepted, they can access your organization’s devices.
If there is an extended delay in the distributor accepting your email invite, contact them to confirm they’ve received it.
