BUMP TEST AND CALIBRATION INTERVALS ON G7

How does the calibration or bump test interval work?

bump.cal.interval.1

Calibration or bump test intervals are set from G7’s configuration profile in Blackline Live. When your configured interval is up, G7 will inform you that a bump test or calibration is due.

Bump test or calibrate G7 either with G7 Dock, or manually with a calibration cap and tubing.

When your bump test or calibration passes, G7 will display a confirmation message and indicate when your next bump test or calibration is due.

After your device has been bump tested or calibrated, G7 won’t prompt you for another bump test or calibration until your reminder interval has elapsed.

For example: When you bump test at 8:05 a.m. and have an interval of one day (24 hours), G7 will inform you that your bump test is due 24 hours after you successfully bump. Your device will inform you a bump test is due at 8:05 a.m. the following day.

How does the bump test or calibration reminder window work?

This setting will prompt a bump test or calibration reminder upon start-up if one of these tests is due within the configured window of time.

Enabling this feature will ensure the device will prompt for a bump test or calibration on start-up, rather than waiting until after the user has already started their shift.

For example: a user has a daily bump test interval (every 24 hours), and normally starts their shift at 10 a.m.

However, one day the user starts work at 8 a.m. When the user powers on G7 at 8 a.m., the device won’t prompt a bump test due as the full 24 hour interval has not passed. In this case, when the test is due, the user may already be out in the field without bump test equipment, making their device out of compliance.

If the user had a two hour bump test or calibration interval, G7 would prompt for bump test or calibration due on start-up at 8 a.m., as these tests would be due within the two hour interval.

How does the calibration or bump test lock work?

bump.cal.interval.2Enable the calibration or bump test lock to make the device unusable when it is out of compliance (hasn’t been bump tested or calibrated).

This feature locks the device’s screen and all functionality when a bump test or calibration is due on start-up.

With this setting enabled, the user cannot use their device in any capacity (including seeing gas readings, pulling the SOS latch, or sending messages) until it has been bump tested or calibrated.

If a device starts up while a bump test or calibration is due, G7 will lock upon start-up.

What happens when a test is due mid shift?

If a bump test or calibration is due during a user’s shift (not on start-up), the device will not lock, as it is a safety concern for the user to be out working in the field without a functioning device. The device will inform the user that a bump test or calibration is due, and the message will display in the banner. The device will remain fully functional.

⚠️ SAFETY WARNING: Once activated, the calibration or bump test lock will block a user from accessing safety features: SOS latch, gas readings, text messaging and voice calls. If the device is locked, they will not be able to call for help using G7.
