This support article describes how to check which firmware version your Blackline Safety device is running, as well as how to initiate an over-the-air (OTA) firmware update.
Checking your Device Firmware Version
You can check your device firmware version on your device and in Blackline Live.
These instructions apply to G7 and EXO devices.
On Device
To check your device firmware version on the device:
- Open the main menu, use the up and down arrow buttons to scroll to Advanced info, then press the center button. The Advanced info menu opens.
- Using the up and down arrow buttons, scroll through the Advanced info menu, then select Device info by pressing the center button. The Device info screen opens, displaying your device’s settings.
- Use the up and down arrow buttons to scroll through the Device info screen to the Firmware section.
- To return to the Advanced info menu, press the OK button.
Blackline Live
To check your device firmware version in Blackline Live:
- Sign in to Blackline Live.
- Select Menu > Reports > Version update status. The installed firmware version displays, as well as the status of any firmware updates in progress.
Initiating an Over-the-Air Firmware Update
It is important to note that your G7c must be powered on and have a solid green connectivity light in order to download firmware updates. In the case that your devices are powered off or not connected to the Blackline Safety network, the update will pause until G7 regains the necessary requirements.
- Call our Technical Support team to initiate a firmware update.
- Under reports, select version update status. Here you can see the download status of the firmware versions.
- G7c should automatically update its firmware the next time it is powered on after the update has reached 100%
- You can manually update G7c’s firmware when the download is at 100% by selecting activate downloaded versions
NOTE: It is important to ensure your devices are not being used in the field if you select activate downloaded versions as the device will restart and lose connectivity while the firmware updates.
- Upon the next power cycle, or when activate downloaded versions is selected, the device will flash blue and yellow lights.
- When the device returns to normal operation, the firmware update is complete. You can check the firmware version from G7’s menu.
