Updated Blackline Analytics Alerts Report

On July 29, 2024, we will be updating the Blackline Analytics Alerts report. The updated design and new features will help you get more valuable insights out of your data.
You will still be able to access the previous version of the report—listed as Alerts (old) in Blackline Analytics—until October 31, 2024, when the old version will be retired.
As the updated Alerts report contains the information currently found in the Worker Safety Analytics report, the Worker Safety Analytics report will also be retired on October 31.
What’s NEW
Report Structure
The updated Alerts report is broken into nine pages so you can more easily and effectively find and use your data. The nine pages are:
- Summary
- Alerts Map
- Gas Alerts
- Trends
- Alert Logs
- Alert Details
- Alert Response Summary
- Alert Response Details
- About
Relocated Visuals
You will notice that the updated Alerts report looks significantly different than the previous version. Almost every visual is still in the report but has been moved to a more intuitive location. The following image and table show the old and new pages for each visual.
New Features
- Gas Alerts: See a breakdown of gas alerts by gas type or alert type, including trends over time.
- Trends: Investigate unusual alert volumes or plan alert response staffing by reviewing trends based on:
- Date
- Day of the week
- Time of the day
- Alert Details: See all details related to an incident in one place, including information about the user, device, alert, and alert response. You can access this page by selecting an alert on either the Alert Logs or Alert Response Details.
Improved User Experience
The report has been reorganized to make information easier to find and read:
- The Summary page has features to give you a look into your general trends without having to navigate to a different page. This includes date view shortcuts, tool tip charts, and quick links to pages with more details.
- Alert details link to the Alert History page in Blackline Analytics.
NOTE: If you are not authorized to view alerts in Blackline Live, you will see an error. - Alert response time content and colors align with the emailed Alerts report.
- The colors for gas types are consistent with the Gas Exposures report.
- Descriptive section and chart titles, quick links, and buttons to toggle multiple views on the same page make it easier for you to navigate the report and data.

What exactly is being updated?
The following is a summary of the updates:
- Same data, but all in one place: The underlying data set for the Alerts report is the same.
- New look: Existing visuals have been redesigned and new visuals added to provide more context.
- Pages with purpose: A new page structure helps you focus on what is important.
- New features: Alerts by gas type, a dedicated page for each alert, and detailed trends help you get more from your data.
- Improved user experience: Information is easier to find and read, making the report easier to use.
- Consolidated reports: The Alerts report also includes the data that was previously displayed in the Worker Safety Analytics report. The Worker Safety Analytics report will be retired on October 31, 2024.
Does the updated report include data from before July 29?
Yes. The updated Alerts report contains the same 180-day history window it always has.
Will the previous version of the report disappear after July 29?
No, the previous version of the report will be available until October 31, 2024.
You can toggle back and forth between the previous and updated versions until then. You will be reminded via a pop-up on Blackline Analytics and Support site notifications to start using the updated report prior to October 31.
Why are there going to be two versions of the report?
Major changes can be challenging, especially when you’re in a hurry and really need to access information in familiar location. Two versions will be available until October 31 to give you time to learn how the updated report works.
What is happening to the worker safety analytics report?
Worker Safety Analytics will be discontinued on October 31, 2024. The type of information available in Worker Safety Analytics is now available in the updated Alerts report.
