Gas Expansion Module Now Shipping

We are excited to announce that the EXO 8’s Gas Expansion Module is now available! EXO 8 is Blackline’s next-generation direct-to-cloud connected portable area monitoring solution. With the Gas Expansion Module, EXO 8 is the world's only area monitor capable of detecting up to eight gases and gamma radiation.
The first two Gas Expansion Module sensor combinations are now shipping:
- Hazmat #1 – NH₃, Cl₂, HCN, PID
- Wastewater #1 – NH₃, H₂S, Cl₂, PID
The next two module sensor combinations will begin shipping in November:
- Refinery/Chem #1 – SO2, PID
- Refinery/Chem #4 – NH3, H2S, SO2
Additional Gas Expansion Module sensor combinations will become available in early 2026.
Firmware Requirements
Prior to installing the gas expansion module, you will need to update EXO 8 to firmware version 4.2, which includes the framework required for the Gas Expansion Module to operate when installed in EXO 8 or EXO 8 Gamma.
